TCM - What is it?
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is the umbrella term for acupuncture, herbal
medicine and other techniques such as cupping and moxibustion. All of these are
intended to harmonise our “qi”, the ‘life force’ or ‘current’ that runs through
our body to give us life. Chinese theory explains that good health is achieved
when our ‘qi’ is flowing smoothly.
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into certain energy points on the body
known as acupoints.
Herbal medicine is the use of plants that have medicinal properties.
