Acupuncture & Herbs Reflexology Background

TCM - How does it work?

Sometimes, due to our lifestyles - our postures, the food we eat, injury, emotional upsets and so forth - the qi in our body becomes blocked or depleted. The insertion of needles assists the qi to flow smoothly again thereby encouraging good health to return. Likewise, different plants have various properties to restore qi flow by either nourishing the body or clearing blockages and can continue the effects of the acupuncture treatment.

Western explanation: the insertion of acupuncture needles sends messages along the nerves to the spinal cord and brain. This triggers the release of endorphins – your body’s natural painkillers and anti-inflammatory ‘agents’. It also increases serotonin that enhances positive feelings of well-being.
